Review: 4 Stars - With how much I loved the first title in author Laura Howards The Danaan Trilogy – The Forgotten Ones – I couldn’t’ wait to get a chance to read the second installment to see what the heck was going to happen next to Allison and all the truths and half truths that we learn about along the way.

So when Stone of Destiny came up for review I jumped on the chance and read it in just about one sitting. The characters we met in the first book are all present and accounted for… or are they? Allison has continued to grow from one book to the next. She’s faced so much and still keeps charging on through everything to get answers she wants. She is fighting for more than just herself and her life, she’s fighting to be happy and for the happiness of her mother.

The one thing you can count on with Howard is how fluid her writing is. It’s easy to get lost in the pages of her books because of not only how interesting the characters are, and how great the story and plot are but it’s because she brings it all together with her writing.

And with a series or trilogy there’s always a chance the second book tends to leave you with more questions than answers and while that is the case here, there’s plenty of other answers that come to fruition to leave readers quite satisfied until the next book. However in a perfect world all questions the reader deems important would be answered and wrapped up in a nice bow at the end. I did in fact have my own questions about a certain character named Aoife and the fact that the other characters lacked urgency to go after her before more doom descends upon them.

While I was happy with the book as a whole and loved it, I had to refrain from giving it the five stars I wish I could have. The bigger issues… at least the bigger issues I saw were somewhat glossed over and I just couldn’t’ wrap my head around that fact.

It’s an exciting and well written series that I more than enjoy and will continue to read. I can’t wait to find out what happens next to Allison and the rest of the characters. I’m looking forward to seeing if Allison’s choices allow her to reap the rewards of the life she wants for her and her family.

If you are looking for a “New Adult” title with a twist – other than the usual contemporary, then you’ve come to the right place. The Danaan Trilogy has it all and then some! I Love it and know others will love it too. Can’t wait to check out the third book!!! Bring it Laura, bring it! Happy Reading!

About the Author:

Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.

  1. Great review, Lisa! You make this series sounds so good! I love how well rounded this book was for a middle book, too. Sounds like it has great character growth and enough answers to make it a satisfying read! I should give book 1 a try! :)
